DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)– Today we are going to be dealing with multiple threats across the Wiregrass as we are going to see severe weather and dangerous heat. Dangerous heat will be the primary threat as we go into our morning and afternoon hours before those thunderstorms roll in. We can see temperatures in the upper 90s and heat indices up to 113 degrees. This is why the National Weather Service has put portions of the Wiregrass under an ‘Excessive Heat Warnings’. Temperatures will be dangerously hot so it is important to stay hydrated and stay inside.
Unfortunately, that is not the only threat today as we are going to see severe weather as well. The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has put us under a level 2 ‘Slight Risk’ of severe weather, with the main threat being isolated wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail as well.
It is important to be weather aware and download the WDHN Storm team app. Stay safe and for more information watch us on WDHN.
