DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It’s only appropriate that today is Good Friday because we can expect some good weather overall if you have any outdoor plans to ring in the Easter weekend! We’ll see sunshine dominate across the board as we warm up to the mid 80s for highs during the afternoon hours.
We can anticipate the return of clouds to the region tonight ahead of our next system, as well as the formation of some fog thanks to ample Gulf moisture moving back in. Lows will be milder than last night as most locations only fall into the low 60s.
This next system (a southward moving cold front) will help bring a 60% chance for showers and storms back to the region on Saturday as a broken line pushes into the Tri-State during the mid-to late afternoon. Some of the storms will have the potential to become strong to marginally severe, with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. We’ll take another trip up to the low to mid 80s for high temperatures prior to rain and storms moving in.
Easter Sunday will look to feature a 50% chance for showers and storms as the aforementioned front stalls and becomes stationary right over our area. Some of these storms could be strong to marginally severe again, with damaging winds and large hail possible. With all this being said, make sure to have a plan if you need to take any outdoor activities indoors! After starting off the morning in the mid 60s, we’ll climb into the low 80s.
We’ll keep this 50-50 chance for showers and storms around as we begin a new work week on Monday. The good news is, rain chances will be confined to only the first half of the day as another cold front pushes through and leaves us behind by the afternoon. Temperatures will be similar to Sunday as we wake up to temperatures in the mid 60s once again and make it up to the upper 70s.
We’ll finally dry out entirely on Tuesday behind this system as mainly sunny skies return. More seasonable temperatures will be on tap post-Monday’s front as highs fall into the mid 70s and lows into the mid 50s.
We can look forward to relatively similar conditions (mostly sunny skies) for Wednesday, but with slightly warmer temperatures. After beginning the day rather cool in the low 50s, we’ll return to the upper 70s for highs.
This warming trend will continue into Thursday as we rise from the upper 50s in the morning to the 80s by the afternoon. Partly sunny skies will prevail.
