DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)– We are going to be under another heat alert today as we are going to see temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Heat indices are expected to be between 107-112 degrees, and the National Weather Service has put us under a Heat Advisory for all of the Wiregrass until 7PM tonight. Rain chances are going to remain lower than yesterday as we only have a 30% chance of rain today.
Even though we have a 30% chance of rain, we are still under a risk for severe weather. The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has put us on a Level 1 ‘Marginal Risk’ for severe weather. This is due to the possibility that even though we might not see showers and thunderstorms everywhere, some of the storms we do see might become severe. The main threat will be isolated wind gusts up to 60 mph, and some small hail.
The heat is going to continue for the foreseeable future as we are going to continue to see temperatures 4-5 degrees above average. I want everyone to stay safe and hydrated and for more information watch us on WDHN.
