DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A few storms will be present this evening, and one or two of them could be packing a punch. Gusty winds of 60 mph will be the most likely threat. Some very small hail is possible but unlikely.
Friday’s rain chance has been bumped up to 50% because the high resolutions models are consistently showing a complex of storms starting just north of us and sweeping through our area during the afternoon and early evening hours. Some of these storms will be strong to severe with 60 mph wind gusts once again being the main threat. Highs will top out in the middle and upper 90s (with 100 degrees possible) before the storms pass through. Heat indices will likely be between 105 and 115 for much of the day.
Saturday will be a mainly dry day, but an isolated storm or two is possible. Highs will be in the upper 90s to low 100s. Be extra mindful to take breaks in air-conditioned areas, drink lots of water, and monitor your pets and children for heat-related illnesses.
Father’s Day will be “slightly” cooler with highs only in the middle 90s. We’ll be dry all day long, so help Dad grill some burgers and enjoy some time by the pool! Humidity values will likely be lower than previous days.
Monday will be very warm and quite muggy. Highs will peak in the middle 90s. An isolated storm is possible.
Tuesday-Thursday will be as steady climb through the upper 90s into potentially the low 100s with an isolated to 20 % chance for rain each day.
