DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — You’ll definitely want to bundle up in a heavy jacket or coat as you head out the door this morning, as most spots are starting off the day frigid in the low to mid 30s! As we go through the next couple hours, you’ll likely be able to shed a lot of the extra layers you put on, as we’ll warm up gradually thanks to plentiful sunshine.
Expect sunny skies to prevail for much of the afternoon as well. Temperatures will continue to climb, with most spots reaching the low 60s much like yesterday for highs.
We’ll start off Christmas Eve not as cold as this morning in the upper 30s. As our winds shift to the south during the day thanks to a departing high pressure system, warmer air will begin filtering back into the region. Thus, we’ll see a nice ascent back into the low 70s for those high temperatures, with sunny skies dominating once again.
CHRISTMAS DAY FORECAST: Mainly sunny skies can be expected again with even warmer temperatures. We’ll begin the morning in the low 50s and top out in the mid to possibly upper 70s.
We’ll likely see a slight increase in fair weather cloud cover on Sunday as low-level moisture starts to ramp up a little bit. This also means that the chance for an isolated shower or two will return to the forecast as well. Temperatures will be very warm once again, with most locations starting the day in the upper 50s and making it up to the mid to upper 70s.
Monday looks to feature much of the same. Expect to begin the morning around 60 degrees and reach the mid to upper 70s once again by the afternoon.
Rain chances look to increase a little bit more to about 20% by Tuesday and Wednesday as a potential cold front starts to move our way. Out ahead of it, we’ll see above average temperatures continue, with the majority of us starting out both days in the low 60s and topping out in the upper 70s.
