DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — We’re starting out the mid point of the work week on the cool side once again in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees, so make sure to put on a jacket before you head out the door! You’ll likely be able to shed it pretty quickly though as we go through the next couple hours, as we can expect to warm up gradually thanks to plentiful sunshine.
Temperatures will continue to climb during the afternoon hours with sunshine remaining in abundance across the Tri-State. Most locations will end up topping out about 7-8 degrees warmer than yesterday in the upper 50s for highs.
We’ll see temperatures drop back down quickly after sunset, and with clear skies in place for the overnight hours, expect a return to the mid 30s for lows as we head into early Thursday morning.
After this cold beginning to the day, we’ll rebound nicely for your Thursday afternoon, reaching just shy of the 60 degree mark once again with plenty of sunshine to go around.
Clouds then look to push back into the region Thursday night out ahead of our next system. This will keep our overnight lows slightly warmer as we head into early Friday morning, with low 40s on tap.
This system (a cold front) is expected to push through the Tri-State during the day on Friday. Impacts out ahead of it look to be pretty minimal since it will have little to offer in the way of moisture, so we’re keeping the chance for showers on the lower end at around 20%. Otherwise, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 50s once again.
In wake of this system, temperatures will drop down significantly yet again to begin the weekend, with Saturday featuring mid to upper 20s to start the morning followed by a climb to only the mid 40s for afternoon highs despite the return of sunshine to the forecast. Winds look to pick up quite a bit behind the front as well, making for a very chilly day with wind chills potentially in the teens-20s, especially early!
These well below average temperatures look to carry into Sunday morning, where we’ll likely see our coldest beginning to a day this week with temperatures down in the mid to possibly low 20s! We’ll rebound nicely from there though, warming back up to the 50s by the afternoon under sunny skies.
As we begin the new work week on Monday, temperatures look to finally increase significantly back to near normal values as a ridge moves our way. Expect a long-awaited return to the 60s by this point as mostly sunny skies prevail for much of the day.
Tuesday looks to continue this uptick in temperatures, with 40s in the morning being followed by a climb to the mid 60s by the afternoon with partly cloudy skies on tap.
