WDHN Storm Team: A slight warm up is in store as we head towards Thanksgiving

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — We’re seeing very cold temperatures down in the low 30s this morning, so make sure to bundle up in a coat or a jacket as you head out the door, maybe with some gloves and a warm knit hat too! Additionally, since most locations are sitting right around freezing or just below that mark, make sure to leave some extra time to defrost your car before you head out on the roads! The good news is, as we go through the next couple hours, we can expect temperatures to warm up thanks to abundant sunshine.

We can expect wall-to-wall sunshine to continue for much of the afternoon as well. High temperatures will be about 2-3 degrees warmer compared to yesterday as most spots top out in the low 60s.

A little bit of cloud cover will move in overnight tonight, so expect to begin Thanksgiving Day slightly warmer around 40 degrees. We’ll reach the upper 60s to near 70 for those high temperatures during the afternoon, with mostly sunny skies and overall beautiful weather in store once again for any holiday festivities outdoors!

Our focus then turns to our next frontal system as we go into Friday. The moisture in advance of it is looking pretty limited, so only a few showers will be possible as the front itself quickly sweeps through the Tri-State during the morning hours. Once the front clears our area, the cloud cover will too as we progress towards the second half of the day. With the cloudiness and rain chances around early, we’ll start off pretty warm in the low 50s, but only top out in the low 60s for our highs prior to the front’s passage.

In its wake, cooler and drier air will usher back in for Saturday. Thus, expect to start the day much colder down in the mid 30s. Our high temperatures won’t change much though, as most of us will still reach the low 60s for the afternoon with mostly sunny skies expected.

Another cold front may move in on Sunday, but this one looks to feature a dry passage for our area as the moisture associated with it stays down along the coast. We’ll begin the morning a little warmer in the low 40s and top out in the mid 60s for the afternoon with sunshine and a few fair weather clouds.

Behind this second front, a ridge looks to settle in, meaning we’ll see sunny skies and seasonable high temperatures continue to begin the work week. Expect both Monday and Tuesday to feature morning lows in the upper 30s to near 40 and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 60s.
