DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — We saw another day of cool weather and mostly cloudy skies to kick off the final weekend of October. As we go through the overnight hours, the cloud cover will gradually start to clear out, which will allow our lows to drop into the upper 40s under mostly clear skies as we head towards sunrise.

High pressure is expected to settle back into the Southeast as we go into Halloween/Sunday, meaning we can expect a return to plentiful sunshine area-wide as well as more seasonable high temperatures, with most of us returning to the low 70s during the afternoon hours. This will make for a fantastic day overall for holiday festivities if you have any plans to go out and about!

The fang-tastic weather will stick around as well for those planning on going out to trick-or-treat! You’ll definitely want to bring a jacket though, as we’ll cool down into the 50s under clear skies throughout the evening, but otherwise, take in the nice weather and have a howling good time in your quest for candy!

Monday looks to feature much of the same weather as we kick off November, with abundant sunshine and overall beautiful weather expected once again. Highs will be a little warmer but still seasonable in the low to mid 70s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will keep this pattern going as well, with both days featuring sunny skies and near average highs in the low to mid 70s.

As we go into Thursday, an upper level trough and associated cold front will start to approach our area from the west. Out ahead of it, moisture content is looking pretty limited at this time, so for now we can only expect a low-end shower chance (20%) at best during the afternoon as this system moves closer. Otherwise, we’ll see quite a bit of cloud cover come back into the region, meaning we’ll likely see partly sunny skies for much of the day. Highs will top out in the mid 70s.

It looks like this aforementioned cold front will move through the Tri-State early in the day on Friday, with again an isolated chance for a shower or two prior to its passage. In wake of this front, we can expect the cloud cover to stick around for the second half of the day and our temperatures to drop once again, with highs in most spots only making it up to the mid 60s during the afternoon.

Saturday looks to feature similarly cool high temperatures, but the cloud cover is expected to move out by this point as wall-to-wall sunshine looks to return to the region for the day. Highs will again be below average in the mid 60s.
