DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Happy Wednesday morning everyone! We’re seeing mostly clear skies and seasonably cool temperatures in the low to mid 60s to kick off the mid point of the work week. If you are planning on going and about early on, definitely make sure to have a light jacket with you! As we go through the rest of the morning, you’ll be able to shed it as temperatures warm rather quickly thanks to ample sunshine area-wide.
With a ridge and high pressure system remaining in place over the Southeast, we can expect plenty of sunshine for much of the afternoon as well, along with a few fair weather clouds. Therefore, today will be another great day to do any kind of outdoor activities! Highs will be on the warm side, topping out in the mid 80s for most locations.
We’ll start out Thursday on the cool side once again in the low to mid 60s. With the aforementioned ridge and high pressure system still remaining locked in, we can expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and dry weather once again. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.
Although the ridge begins to drift southward and weaken on Friday, its influence will still be felt across the region, as mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will again be the name of the game. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 80s for most spots.
As we go into Saturday, a weak trough and its associated cold front will move into our area, pushing the ridge out officially. There will be the chance for a few showers as the front pushes through during the day, but rain chances will be on the lower end (only around 20%) since there will be limited moisture available overall. Highs will be in the low 80s.
A significantly cooler and drier airmass will then move in behind the front Saturday night, and will stick around through the beginning of the work week. Thus, plentiful sunshine will return to the forecast Sunday through Tuesday; high and low temperatures each day will be their coolest so far this fall, with highs only in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s!
