DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — We’re seeing a nice and seasonably cool start to Friday Eve here in the Wiregrass. If you’re planning on going out and about early on, it would not be a bad idea to grab a light jacket! As we go through the remainder of the morning, you’ll be able to shed it as we can expect temperatures to warm up a good bit under mostly sunny skies.
A mix of sun and clouds will continue for much of the afternoon as well, and with a ridge and high pressure system still parked over our area, we will once again be warm and dry area-wide. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid to upper 80s.
Friday will follow in a similar fashion despite the fact that the ridge we’ve had for the last several days will start to break down a little bit. We’ll see another day of mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures, with highs peaking in the upper 80s for most locations.
As we go into Saturday, the aforementioned ridge will be pushed out of the region thanks to a trough and associated cold front. As the front traverses through the Tri-State during the first half of the day, we will have the low-end chance (around 20%) for a few showers out ahead of it since there will be a little moisture around. Thanks to the front moving through, highs will only reach the mid to upper 70s.
Temperatures will quickly drop in wake of this front Saturday night as our coolest airmass of the fall season so far will be ushered in, with the majority of us starting out Sunday in the low 50s! With high pressure settling back in, we can expect plentiful sunshine for much of the day. Highs will only top out in the mid 70s area-wide.
Mainly sunny skies and cooler weather will continue for Monday as well. We’ll start out the day in the upper 40s to low 50s and top out in the mid 70s once again.
Mostly sunny skies will continue for Tuesday, albeit with highs returning to near normal in the low 80s.
Wednesday will be relatively similar, but we will reintroduce the isolated chance for a shower or two with a little moisture returning to the region. Highs will once again be in the low 80s.
