WDHN Storm Team: Lower rain chances next week; possible tropical system in the Gulf

Weather

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A few more showers this evening, then we’ll be partly cloudy with some patchy fog in the early morning hours. Lows will be in the low 70s.

Saturday will be in the upper 80s and low 90s with a rain chance of 60%. A couple of these storms could be on the strong side with an isolated wind gust of 50+ mph or some small hail.

Sunday should be a little drier, but a 40% chance for rain is still in the forecast. Highs will eclipse the 90 degree mark, but the feels like temperature will be close to 100 degrees.

Monday will start off the next work week with a 40% rain chance and highs in the low 90s. Heat indices will be in the upper 90s to 100 degrees through about Wednesday.

Tuesday’s rain chance of 30% and a high temp in the low 90s perfectly characterizes yet another day in the SE U.S.

Wednesday will keep around low rain chances and temperatures around 90 degrees for a majority of the area.

Thursday will be in the upper 80s with a 30% chance for rain. Showers look to be most likely along the Panhandle.

Friday’s forecast is up in the air right now because of a potential tropical system in the Gulf. It looks like temperatures will only make it into the low and middle 80s because of dense cloud cover and some rain chances.

Concerning the Tropics, models have been pointing to a potential tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico late next week and/or over the weekend. The most likely placement of a potential system currently looks like the north central or western half of the Gulf, but we won’t rule out a chance for the eastern half. If you have plans for the beach, make sure to keep checking with us for the latest on the Tropics especially at the start of next week.
