DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Our severe weather threat has fully come to an end now that the line of showers and storms we saw earlier has moved past our area. We’ll see a couple more light showers push through with the passage of the cold front before we fully dry out by about 1-2 AM. As cooler air starts to filter in, expect our temperatures to drop down to the upper 40s as we get close to sunrise tomorrow morning. Much of the cloud cover we’re seeing now will also stick around for the rest of the overnight hours.
These clouds will clear out though as we go through the first half of the day Sunday, meaning we’ll see sunny skies make their long-awaited return by the afternoon. High temperatures will be much cooler and more seasonable than in previous days, with most locations topping out in the mid 60s.
We’ll begin the next work week on Monday a little cooler in the mid 40s. Sunshine and a few fair weather clouds will prevail as we go through the rest of the day. Temperatures will also rebound nicely from the morning as most spots warm up to the upper 60s.
Tuesday looks to feature much of the same, but with a little less cloud cover and warmer temperatures. Expect to start out the morning in the upper 40s and peak in the low 70s during the second half of the day.
Wednesday will follow in this general pattern as well. We’ll begin the morning in the low 50s and reach the low 70s once again during the afternoon under sunny skies.
Thursday will similarly be mostly sunny and warm. We’ll start off the day in the mid 50s and make it up to the mid 70s for our highs.
A little more cloud cover looks to move in for Friday, but this won’t stop us from having another nice and warm day overall once again. After starting the morning in the mid 50s, expect to warm up to the mid to upper 70s by the second half of the day for high temperatures.
Models are indicating that a low-end potential for showers might return as we head into next Saturday, so we’ve put a 20% chance into the forecast. Otherwise, we’ll see another warm and partly sunny day overall with highs in the mid 70s.
