DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Temperatures are on the cool side in the 40s to start off your Thursday, so make sure to have a jacket handy once again as you head out the door this morning! Also, we’re seeing dense fog across much of the Tri-State, which is helping to reduce visibilities out on the roads down to less than a mile. With this in mind, also make sure to leave some extra time to get your destination if you’re planning on heading out and about! This fog should gradually dissipate as we go through the next hour or two. As we progress through the remainder of the morning after that, expect to warm up nicely thanks to abundant sunshine, so you’ll be able to shed any extra layers that you put on earlier!

Wall-to-wall sunshine will dominate for much of the afternoon as well. This will help in further warming us up, with most spots reaching the mid 70s for our high temperatures.

We’ll see a little more fair weather cloud cover move in for the overnight hours, and with some low-level moisture around, the development of patchy dense fog will be possible once again as we head into early Friday morning. Temperature-wise, we’ll start out a little warmer in the upper 40s to near 50. As we go through the rest of the day, we can expect to warm up nicely into the mid 70s again by the afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

Saturday looks to follow in a similar fashion. We’ll start the morning in the 50s and top out in the mid 70s during the second half of the day with a healthy dose of sunshine and a few fair weather clouds prevailing.

We can wash, rinse, and repeat that exact same forecast for Sunday. Expect to begin the day in the 50s and make it up to the mid 70s once again during the afternoon hours.

Things look to change though as we head into Monday thanks to a cold front heading our way. The moisture in advance of this front is looking pretty decent, so we’ll likely see a few showers develop and move through the region during the afternoon hours prior to the front’s passage. The chance of rain for now will be on the lower end at around 30% area-wide. Otherwise, expect an increase in cloud cover and a drop in our high temperatures back down to the low 70s.

In wake of this frontal system, we’ll see cooler and drier air filter back in for Tuesday. Thus, we’ll see a return to mostly sunny skies and more seasonable temperatures to the forecast. We’ll begin the morning down in the low 40s and reach the mid 60s for our afternoon highs.

This cooldown and return to dry weather will be short-lived though, as we can expect another frontal system to push towards the Wiregrass on Wednesday. Moisture with this one looks to be a little better, so there will be a higher chance for showers with this system compared to Monday’s. With this in mind, we’ve raised the chance for rain to 50%. Otherwise, we’ll see an increase in cloud cover once again and a return to the 70s for our high temperatures as warmer air pushes back in.
