WDHN Storm Team: Staying mostly sunny and mainly dry for the long haul

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Today was a gorgeous day across the board, as sunshine returned to much of the region after a mostly rainy work week. We can expect the nice weather to continue overnight as well, with mostly clear skies expected area-wide. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid 60s for most locations.

For Sunday, we can once again expect wall to wall sunshine and little to no cloud cover as high pressure continues to dominate the overall weather pattern. High temperatures will top out in the mid 80s.

High pressure and a ridge over our area will keep the dry and mainly sunny conditions around for Monday as well, albeit with a few more fair weather clouds. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will follow in a similar fashion, with both days featuring mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

We may see a bit more cloud cover start to work its way back into the picture for Thursday and Friday, but thankfully we will stay dry across the board as high pressure and the aforementioned ridge both stay parked over our area. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s once again for both days.

As we go into next Saturday, some long range models are hinting at a trough moving into the Southeast, which could help to bring rain chances back to our region. However, with limited moisture around, we can only expect an isolated chance for a shower or two at best for now. Afternoon highs will drop down into the mid 80s thanks to this potential trough moving in.
