DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Today will be another sunny and very hot day! Potentially record-breaking high temperatures for this date specifically will be possible as most locations reach the mid 90s during the afternoon. If you have any outdoor plans, make sure to pile on the sunscreen, drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks!

Thursday will feature more of the same: mostly sunny skies and another round of well above average temperatures. We’ll begin the morning in the upper 60s and trek up to the mid 90s once more.

We’ll reintroduce a low-end (20%) chance for a shower or two to the forecast on Friday. Outside of that, we’ll stay hot as we climb from the upper 60s into the low 90s for highs to close out the work week.

Rain chances will go up significantly to 60% for Saturday and Sunday with the arrival of northward moving tropical moisture into our area. We’ll also see cloud cover increase area-wide as well. These two things (better chances for showers and storms and the addition of cloud cover) will help to cool us down substantially as highs drop back down to the mid and upper 80s both days.

We’ll see rain chances remain relatively high for Monday/Memorial Day as the aforementioned tropical moisture interacts with a southward moving cold front. This will translate to a 50% chance for afternoon showers and storms. With this in mind, make sure to have a backup plan to bring any outdoor plans indoors if need be! We’ll take a trip up to the mid 80s for highs after starting out the day in the mid to upper 60s.

Rain chances will finally drop off a bit to 30% on Tuesday as the front washes out. After waking up in the mid 60s once again, expect to rise into the mid to upper 80s for highs.
