DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Tonight will be another mild one as most locations only fall into the mid 70s. Partly cloudy skies will prevail. Once again, the development of some patchy fog will be possible close to sunrise.
We’ll start off the work week with another round of hot and humid weather and a 30% chance for afternoon showers. Much like the last several days, we’ll rise into the low 90s for highs. Tomorrow will be the first of several days where heat index values/feels like temperatures will likely top out in the triple digits when factoring in the high humidity values in combination with the actual air temperature.
Highs will creep up a few degrees into the mid 90s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days will have a 40% chance for showers and heat index values in the lower 100s.
Thursday through Sunday will feature similarly hot temperatures, with mid 90s expected on each of these four days as well. Rain chances will be slightly lower than previous days in the 20-30% range. Heat index values and feels like temperatures will be slightly higher in the mid to upper 100s.
With the above forecast in mind, it is extremely important that you exercise caution if you are planning on going outdoors at any point this week! Make sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, seek shade when needed, and wear loose-fitting clothing!
TROPICAL UPDATE: A new area of interest has been outlined in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, where a low pressure system is expected to form by mid-week. Conditions are looking unfavorable for any sort of development in the long term as this system moves northwestward towards Nicaragua and Honduras. We’ll continue to watch this system though, and provide any updates when they become available, as hurricane season is just getting started!
