HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — For the third time, Donald Valenza has won the Houston County sheriff election. Tuesday night defeating challenger, Randy Anderson by a wide margin.
The current sheriff says the voter turnout really speaks to the work his staff has done.
“I feel very proud, I really thank the people for supporting me. I want them to be proud of their sheriff’s department and we are going to keep working very hard,” Valenza told WDHN after winning the primary election.
As he enters another run at sheriff, Valenza promises that his department will continue to work cases hard and be available to the community.
“You need us, call us. Do not hesitate to call us. If you need me call me at anytime.”
Valenza won the race with a staggering 85 percent of the vote.
This next year will be his 44th with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, something Valenza does not take lightly.
“I still love my job. I could have retired 18 years ago but I chose not to because I still love it. I have a great group of deputies, I have a very dedicated sheriff’s department.”
