DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Next Tuesday, August 3, Dothan voters will be heading to the polls, but with the recent rise of COVID cases and the spread of the Delta variant, how will poll workers deal with COVID precautions?
According to Dothan City Clerk, Wendy Shiver, masks will be suggested but not required to vote at any of Dothan’s 12 polling locations.
Shiver said everyone is encouraged to vote and take reasonable safety measures such as social distancing and hand sanitizing. Shiver said the CDC guidelines will be up to each voter to follow at their discretion.
“We hope every registered voter comes out to vote Tuesday, August 3rd,” Shiver said. “We encourage mask-wearing, we will have those available at each polling site as well as regular sanitizing the voting areas, also having hand sanitizer available.”
Shiver added that all polling locations will be open on Tuesday, August 3, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
